What we do
Bosom Buddies Charities hosted its primary fundraiser, the Bosom Buddies Ball, on January 19, 2013, at the Chesapeake Beach Club. With the support of our sponsors, auction item donors, in-kind donors, volunteers, and attendees, we raised over $150,000 to help continue our mission.
With the proceeds of past balls, we have been able to donate the digital mammography equipment to the Kent Island Breast Center, fund a highly successful Survivor Retreat last autumn, and support a nurse navigator to help guide breast cancer patients through complex medical systems and negotiate through the barriers to care along the continuum. In addition, this year we will complete our pledge to purchase the Spy Elite equipment, which assesses the blood flow in newly transplanted tissue, allowing the surgeon to access real-time information and to modify plans before the patient leaves the operating room. We also will begin funding a Faxitron System for the Shore Health Regional Breast Center; the system reduces procedure time in the operating room for breast biopsy and lumpectomy and minimizes the potential for re-excision.
